North Andover Pizzeria Closes After 33 Years Of Business

A signature New England pizza brand closed a decades-old pizza shop while gearing up for a the public celebration of a new, state-of-the-art location.

Sal's Pizza served up pizza at 409 Main Street in North Andover for 33 years before announcing the location's permanent closure on Monday, May 15, according to a release from the company.

“We will cherish the memories of our customers, employees, and the North Andover community for years to come,” said Sal Lupoli, CEO and president of Sal’s Pizza. “We cannot thank the North Andover community enough for their support and hope they will come visit us at our new Lawrence location.”

The pizzeria has recently opened several new locations with convenience in mind, the release said. Sal's Pizza has been popping up at convenience stores, universities, and arenas in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

The newest addition to the chain will be located at the Riverwalk in Lawrence, on the North Andover line.

A public grand opening celebration for the new Lawrence location will feature Sal Lupoli and the Mayor of Lawrence on Wednesday, May 24.

Andover residents can still get Sal's "signature sauce," dough, and cheese at another Andover restaurant, 34 Park. The chain also began selling pizza in grocery stores and schools in 2023.
